POSITION OVERVIEW:

Reporting to the Warehouse Supervisor, this role supports a warehouse team in organizing and maintaining a food storage facility. The position aims to enhance the efficiency and timeliness of food pantry services delivered to individuals living with HIV/AIDS.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Transport food and hygiene supplies to designated food pantry sites operated by NOLP and its partner agencies.
  • Unload weekly food deliveries at sites and arrange food preparation shelves.
  • Distribute grocery items from NOLP to clients as required.
  • Assist with client and volunteer intake procedures when necessary, maintaining a consistently courteous, respectful, and helpful demeanor.
  • Provide coverage for NOLP Site Coordinators at various locations as needed.
  • Oversee volunteers, track volunteer hours accurately, and aid the Volunteer Coordinator in recruiting, training, and scheduling volunteers for warehouse or food drive tasks.
  • Maintain precise weekly inventory of food stock, including data entry into the NOLP inventory system.
  • Organize, clean, and upkeep the warehouse, which involves restocking the freezer, cooler, and shelves, and preparing pre-bagged groceries for clients.
  • Operate a 5-ton truck for deliveries and pickups.
  • Assist in maintaining the program\'s delivery vehicles, including cleaning and monitoring routine service needs.
  • Provide driving support for APLA\'s revenue-generating events.
  • Help receive program-specific deliveries and verify shipment contents.
  • Support donation solicitation by representing NOLP at weekend food drive activities.

ADDITIONAL DUTIES MAY BE ASSIGNED AS NEEDED TO SUPPORT BUSINESS OPERATIONS.

REQUIREMENTS:

Training and Experience:

A high school diploma is required. A minimum of one year of experience in public interaction is necessary. Experience in a warehouse or stockroom environment is beneficial, as is experience operating delivery vehicles. Candidates must demonstrate a history of a clean driving record.

Knowledge of:

Stockroom operations; proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel is preferred. Familiarity with retail food sales practices and stockroom procedures is advantageous.

Ability to:

  • Drive a 5-ton truck.
  • Use a computer with Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Operate warehouse equipment such as a forklift and pallet jack.
  • See assigned tasks through to completion.
  • Manage multiple projects at the same time.
  • Work and communicate effectively with individuals from diverse ethnic and cultural backgrounds.
  • Supervise assigned volunteers.
  • Adhere to deadlines.
  • Work with minimal supervision.
  • Maintain detailed inventory records.
  • Work in an organized and systematic manner.
  • Respond with sensitivity to people living with HIV/AIDS.
  • Exhibit professional verbal and written communication skills and deliver professional customer service.

WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

This is largely an active role requiring regular bending, reaching, stooping, and lifting and moving stock weighing 50 pounds or more. It also involves driving a 5-ton truck for deliveries and pickups.

SPECIAL CONDITIONS:

  • Must hold a valid California driver\'s license, provide proof of automobile liability insurance, and have access to a personal vehicle for work-related purposes.
  • COVID-19 vaccination and booster are required, barring an approved medical or religious exemption.
