Position Overview
All assigned contracts will be managed through our online portal and mobile inspector dashboard. The role involves conducting property walk-throughs, interviewing policyholders, capturing multiple photographs, and occasionally creating property diagrams to answer specific questions on client forms. Completed reports, diagrams, details, and photos must be uploaded via the inspector portal within a 14-day period.
As a contractor, you will be responsible for producing thorough, high-quality loss control inspection reports. These reports must adhere to the established protocols, procedures, and policies of both our clients and our company. Utilizing provided templates, you will identify potential loss conditions, hazards, or concerns and recommend actions to mitigate the risks discovered during your field surveys.
Scheduled inspections must be performed during standard business hours from Monday to Friday. Inspectors have the autonomy to set their own appointment times.
Compensation Details
This is a flat-fee position, not an hourly role. Base rates for inspections within a 25-mile radius of your address start between $45 and $75. Inspections outside this area or for larger properties will be compensated based on your submitted flat-rate bid. Payments are issued monthly via ACH deposit directly to your U.S. bank account. A 1099 form will be provided each January for tax reporting.
Desired Qualifications
- A qualified, professional, and reliable business owner with schedule flexibility.
- Demonstrable experience in insurance field inspections or related work, or certification from the Loss Control Academy (lossscontrolacademy.com) or the Virtual Insurance Inspector Academy (www.inspectroinstitute.com) in both Personal and Commercial lines inspections.
- Excellent communication abilities.
- Strong common sense and problem-solving skills.
- An understanding of superior customer service and an enjoyment of working with diverse individuals.
- Reliability, with the capacity to work independently and in an organized manner.
- Proficiency in writing clear, well-structured reports for clients.
- Familiarity and comfort with technology, including MS Office programs.
Important Requirements
- You must be at least 18 years old.
- You must pass a criminal background check.
- You cannot work under your Social Security Number. You must provide an FEIN number, which is available at no cost from www.IRS.gov.
- As an independent contractor, you are responsible for supplying all necessary tools. This includes reliable transportation, a computer with high-speed internet, a camera-equipped smartphone, a measuring wheel, a water pressure gauge, GPS navigation software, and Microsoft Word and Excel.
- After completing your first inspection, you must obtain professional liability insurance, also known as Errors and Omissions Insurance. Policies are generally available online and typically cost between $25 and $45 per month, depending on your contracted workload with us.
