Dog Handlers – Seasonal Holiday Positions (Sherman Oaks)
About This Job
Dog-E-Den, a comprehensive dog care facility situated on Ventura Boulevard near the Sherman Oaks Galleria, is actively seeking dedicated seasonal staff for the upcoming holiday period from November through January. Our bustling operation requires responsible individuals to serve as canine handlers.
In this role, you will be responsible for overseeing, tending to, and engaging with our dog guests. The position necessitates a readiness to perform cleaning duties related to pet waste and occasional messes. We are looking for enthusiastic animal lovers who are not deterred by getting soiled or by demanding physical labor. The perfect applicant will have adaptable schedules for the coming two months, with particular need for availability during early morning and late evening hours, which coincide with standard feeding times.
Candidates with availability from 8:00 PM to 8:00 AM will receive special consideration.
Primary Duties:
- Monitoring canine playgroups.
- Helping with meal preparation and feeding.
- Performing general cleaning and facility upkeep tasks.
While this is a rewarding role for animal enthusiasts, it is important to understand that it involves more than simply interacting with pets. The environment includes noise, shedding, waste management, muddy paws, and considerable physical exertion. For a suitable candidate, this seasonal role may transition into a permanent full-time opportunity after the holiday season concludes.
Necessary Qualifications:
- Must be 18 years of age or older.
- Must be adept at handling dogs of all breeds and temperaments with kindness.
- Must possess a flexible schedule, including the ability to work overnight shifts.
- Must be capable of lifting 50 pounds and remaining physically active throughout the shift.
- Must work effectively both autonomously and as part of a team.
- Must demonstrate a solid work ethic, physical endurance, responsibility, honesty, patience, and punctuality.
- Strong verbal communication skills, a good sense of humor, a positive outlook, and a genuine affection for dogs are essential.
To apply for this position, please respond directly to this advertisement with your resume. You must include your schedule availability in your email. Submissions without an attached resume will not be considered.
We have openings for both part-time and full-time team members.
