We are seeking an experienced Legal Secretary with a focus on immigration law. This part-time role requires 30 to 35 hours of work per week.

Experience & Qualifications

  • A minimum of 6 to 9 years of hands-on experience handling legal immigration cases is mandatory.
  • Proficiency in both English and Spanish is required.
  • Extensive experience with EOIR immigration court litigation, including cases like cancellation of removal and asylum, is necessary.
  • Must be well-versed in USCIS procedures, including the preparation and filing of common petitions and applications such as I-130, I-589, EB-3, and H-1B.
  • Familiarity with filing systems and platforms like ECAS, USCIS online filing, and SIJIS cases is essential.
  • Additional experience with I-601A waivers or SIJS Family/Juvenile Law petitions is a significant advantage and may command a higher rate of pay.
  • Strong competencies in billing, invoicing, professional phone etiquette, and written communication are required.
  • The ideal candidate will be self-motivated, capable of working independently, and adept at following attorney instructions precisely.
  • Availability to work between 10:00 AM and 7:00 PM, for 4 to 5 days per week, is required.

Position Details

This is a part-time legal secretary position. While a paralegal certificate is beneficial, it is not a requirement for this role. Core responsibilities will include answering phones, managing calendars, and handling filing duties.

Compensation

The hourly wage ranges from $32 to $45, commensurate with experience and qualifications. Specialized experience with SIJS cases, requiring a minimum of 3 years, may qualify for compensation above the standard range.
