CNC Mill Setup Mechanic or Technician (San Fernando)

In the role of CNC Mill Setup Machinist, your primary responsibility will involve configuring CNC milling machines by loading programs and inputting necessary instructions, such as establishing zero and reference points. You will also be tasked with preparing and loading raw materials into the equipment. The position requires producing precise metal components by interpreting technical drawings, schematics, blueprints, and following verbal directives. The use of appropriate measuring instruments and manual tools is essential to the job.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Execute the setup, loading, and operation of CNC mills to complete parts according to provided specifications.
• Troubleshoot issues and make necessary program edits as required.
• Load machine programs by entering setup instructions, including establishing zero and reference points.
• Locate, install, and utilize various fixtures and workholding devices, including vises.
• Work effectively from detailed drawings, sketches, or written and verbal instructions.
• Perform operator-level preventive maintenance, including chip removal, maintaining proper fluid levels, and cleaning machines, vises, fixtures, and tools.
• Select and employ appropriate hand tools such as mallets, wrenches, bench grinders, and deburring tools.
• Select and use all required inspection and measuring devices, including dial calipers, scales, micrometers, height gauges, and pin and thread gauges.
• Prepare raw stock for use in the CNC milling process.
• Deburr parts as necessary during the machining process.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and well-organized workspace.
• Function as a collaborative team member, assisting with material handling, general area cleanliness, and supporting colleagues.
• Complete additional tasks as assigned by supervision.

Required Qualifications and Skills:

• High school diploma or equivalent; completion of a trade school program is advantageous.
• Minimum of five years of hands-on experience as a CNC Mill Setup Machinist.
• Proficiency in spoken English is mandatory.
• Ability to write in English to complete forms such as job travelers, logs, and statistical process control sheets.
• Strong hand-eye coordination.
• Proficient in the use of handheld tools and precision measuring equipment.
• Demonstrated initiative to ask clarifying questions and avoid assumptions.
• Capable of lifting items weighing up to 25 pounds.
• Ability to stand for extended periods.
• Exceptional attention to detail and strong mechanical aptitude.
• Self-motivated with a focus on completing tasks both efficiently and to a high standard of quality.
