Job Overview
We are looking for an enthusiastic Plant Sourcing and Sales Specialist to contribute to our expanding plant procurement and nursery activities in California. This role merges sourcing tasks with sales and regulatory functions. The perfect applicant will possess a firm understanding of plant species, excellent bargaining abilities, and experience with nursery management and U.S. plant regulations.
Primary Duties
- Locate, assess, and cultivate relationships with nurseries, growers, and plant vendors in various areas.
- Negotiate terms regarding pricing, agreements, delivery timelines, and quality benchmarks.
- Source and acquire indoor and outdoor plants, encompassing ornamental, landscaping, and container-grown varieties.
- Develop purchasing and inventory plans according to project needs, customer requests, and seasonal patterns.
- Oversee import and export compliance for plants, which includes securing and renewing necessary nursery dealer or plant sales licenses and associated paperwork.
- Arrange logistics and shipping, guaranteeing plants are delivered in prime condition.
- Interact with vendors and clients to manage orders, address problems, and ensure on-time completion.
- Perform market and pricing research to discover new products and potential avenues for growth.
- Generate sourcing reports, vendor assessments, and cost breakdowns.
- Participate in horticultural trade exhibitions or industry functions to network with potential suppliers and buyers.
Requirements
- A Bachelor\'s degree in Horticulture, Plant Science, Agriculture, Supply Chain Management, or a similar discipline.
- At least one year of work experience in plant purchasing, horticultural sales, or comparable roles within the green industry.
- Solid plant expertise and the capability to evaluate quality and health status.
- Outstanding negotiation and interpersonal communication skills.
- Prior involvement in coordinating logistics and managing supplier relationships.
- Competence in using MS Office and ERP or procurement software platforms.
- Willingness to undertake domestic travel when required.
- Fluency in English is essential; proficiency in Mandarin Chinese is a strong advantage.
