GENERAL JOB CRITERIA

This role involves the installation of cabling and associated support systems such as cable trays, conduits, and hangers. It requires the application of standardized testing methods and equipment for a diverse range of cable varieties. Responsibilities include aiding in the testing and termination of cable networks. All tasks must be executed in compliance with established production, safety, and quality codes. The position necessitates the ability to interpret and understand technical blueprints and construction documentation to plan and execute work. The ideal candidate must be capable of working autonomously or collaboratively at client locations. Professional interaction with customers and a consistently professional demeanor are essential.

PRIMARY TASKS AND ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Handle various cable types including CAT 5e and 6 twisted pair, optical fiber, and coaxial. Execute all cable pulling, support installation, fireproofing, termination, and testing in alignment with the National Electrical Code and pertinent local ordinances.
  • Complete all assignments with attention to neatness and high-quality standards.
  • Test and extend circuit pathways from the main point of entry to the client\'s designated site.
  • Possess strong customer service abilities, including effective communication and resolving client concerns.
  • Demonstrate capacity for productive collaboration across different departments.
  • Availability for occasional overtime work is required.
  • During service repair calls, verify that requested services are correctly installed, activated, and functioning.

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Oversee inventory of equipment stored in the company vehicle.
  • Manage the maintenance schedule for the assigned company vehicle.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS AND BACKGROUND

Education and Experience:

  • A High School diploma or GED equivalent is required.
  • A minimum of two years of hands-on experience in low-voltage voice and data cabling is necessary.

REQUIRED COMPETENCIES AND CAPABILITIES

  • Basic practical knowledge of customer needs for voice, data, and internet applications.
  • Sound analytical and problem-solving skills for effective troubleshooting.
  • Proficient verbal and written communication abilities.
  • Demonstrated initiative to assume full responsibility for projects from initiation to completion.
  • Must be adaptable and able to accommodate a flexible schedule based on client demands.
  • Availability for occasional weekend work is required.
  • Must be able to travel to multiple client sites during the workday.
  • A valid driver\'s license is mandatory.
  • Must maintain a clean driving record with no more than three points on record.
  • No DUI convictions within the previous three years.
  • Ability to successfully pass a drug screening, background investigation, and reference check.
  • Experience with camera installation and focus calibration is beneficial.
  • Familiarity with Access Control systems is a plus.

TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT

Candidates must provide their own fundamental telecommunications toolset. This should include a punch-down tool with 66/110 blades, snips, wire strippers, a cordless drill, and basic hand tools. Required Personal Protective Equipment comprises a Hard Hat, Safety Boots, and Safety Glasses.

A company vehicle, work mobile phone, and uniform shirts will be supplied.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Occasional lifting and moving of items weighing up to 50 pounds is required. Specific visual capabilities include close-range vision and the ability to adjust focus.
