French Lessons with Native Parisian (15 Years Experience)
About This Service
Bonjour! Are you interested in enhancing your French language skills?
My name is Hadrien, and I have over 15 years of experience instructing students at all levels, from beginners to advanced. You can verify my qualifications by viewing the attached pictures or by searching for \"Seattle French Lessons\" on Yelp to read reviews.
Detailed information about private instruction and group sessions is provided below. Drop-in participants are welcome.
Private French Instruction
Level: Beginner through Advanced
Available Times: Tuesdays at 10 AM Pacific Time | Thursdays at 9 AM Pacific Time
Duration: 50 minutes
Platform: Zoom
Description:
Private sessions encompass grammar, conjugation, idioms, and conversational practice, with a particular focus on authentic native speech patterns. Interestingly, many elements we cover—such as the common, informal omission of the \"e\" sound in spoken French—are often missing from standard textbooks. For instance, \"Pas de problème\" becomes \"Pad problème\" in casual conversation.
Please only inquire about private lessons if one of the specified times is suitable for your schedule.

Level: Intermediate & Upper Intermediate
Time: Fridays at 9 AM Pacific Time
Duration: 1.5 hours
Platform: Zoom
Drop-in Ticket: $25
Monthly Subscription: $17 per class
Description:
This weekly class is designed for intermediate and upper-intermediate students with some prior knowledge of French. Grammar topics are covered on a rotating basis, and we also analyze real spoken French by examining dialogues from French films and television series. The 90-minute lecture includes:
- A featured French idiom of the week, complete with examples.
- A segment on French culture, covering areas such as history, music, cinema, cuisine, and architecture.
- A focus on common French expressions and sayings that do not translate literally into English.
- A review of a predefined grammar topic, such as articles, present tense, imparfait vs. passé composé, adverb placement, object pronouns, prepositions, or the subjunctive mood.
- An interactive correction of an assignment distributed to all participants several days in advance.
- An in-depth analysis of a dialogue from a French movie or TV show, highlighting key vocabulary, idioms, notes on spoken French, and comprehension practice.
- The opportunity to ask questions at any time using the chat function.
Please note that the class is primarily lecture-based, so participants are not put on the spot. Having your webcam on is optional.

About the Instructor
My name is Hadrien. I have been teaching French to students of all proficiency levels for more than 15 years.
Growing up in Paris with an American mother has made me completely bilingual. This equal proficiency in both languages provides a unique perspective for teaching French to English speakers.
Over the past 15 years, I have developed my own curriculum and assignments to assist students with French conversation, grammar, conjugation, idioms, reading comprehension, listening comprehension, essay writing, translation exercises, and more.
All class activities and materials maintain a special emphasis on spoken French. We examine unofficial rules of casual speech and sometimes use scripts from French movies and TV shows as homework material.
I initially taught French in Seattle from 2008 to 2017 after moving there for university. Since relocating back to Paris in 2017, I have successfully transitioned all my students to Zoom. The shift to online instruction has been smoother than anticipated, largely due to the effective use of Google Docs for live, collaborative lesson notes and homework.
Do not hesitate to send me an email if you have any questions.
Thank you, and I look forward to hearing from you soon.
