About This Service

Hello! My name is Ramin Saber. I am an instructor of Piano and Classical Guitar, possessing more than two decades of teaching experience. I hold a bachelor\'s degree in Music from California State University, Northridge.

I have a broad background in instructing piano to children as young as four years old, and classical guitar to students aged seven and older. I have worked, and continue to work, with students who have autism. My experience also extends to teaching teenagers and adults at every skill level. Whether you are an adult beginner or an advanced musician seeking to refine your abilities, I can guide you through a suitable curriculum to help you reach your objectives.

My teaching encompasses reading standard musical notation for both piano and guitar. I focus on proper technique while learning new compositions. These pieces are selected not only to be motivating and enjoyable for the student, but also to impart the necessary skills and concepts for their current stage of musical growth. Weekly technical exercises are provided to build dexterity and coordination.

For Students Ages 7 and Above

• Fundamental music theory, including the construction of chords and scales, is covered.

For Intermediate Levels

• In addition to studying more advanced repertoire, weekly sight-reading and theory exercises are assigned.

For Students Ages 9 and Above

• Principles of Diatonic Harmony, such as the function of primary chords within major and minor keys, are discussed. Students at this level are expected to compose simple pieces.

For Advanced Levels

• Appropriate pieces are refined for public performance.
• Chromatic Harmony is explored, covering secondary dominants, leading-tone chords, and modulation to closely related and distant keys, among other topics.
• Beyond classical music, the composition of different styles such as blues, jazz, and pop is discussed. Students at this level are expected to write original music.
