Performance training includes movement, stage blocking, managing performance anxiety, and interpreting song lyrics.

Specializing in opera, operetta, and Broadway coaching. Instructor Cherie is also highly skilled in teaching other genres, such as rock, R&B, country, pop, and folk music.

Cherie Valaray has been an instructor with Richman Music School since 2010. Born in Hungary, she is a graduate of the Budapest Studio of the Hungarian Society of Musicians and Dancers. Her European performance credits include roles in Hannover Theater\'s productions of \"The Gypsy Baron\" and \"Die Fledermaus,\" appearances at the Lehar and Kalman Operetta Festival in Hungary, and performances in musicals at the Arany Janos Theater. Prior to moving to New York, she completed two years of acting study in Budapest. In New York, Cherie trained with Metropolitan Opera tenor Gabor Carelli and performed at sponsored charity events throughout the city.

She continued her vocal studies in Sydney, Australia, working with the internationally recognized coach David Harper. There, she also trained with Andrew Dalton, a vocal coach for the Sydney Conservatorium of Music, and Nicole Dorigo, a French-Italian language coach at the same institution. Cherie has participated in classes with Estella Roche, a repetiteur for Opera Australia, and in master classes led by England\'s Mary King. She also studied under renowned Australian tenor Jonathon Welch, who included her in the Tenor Australis group for their \'Three Tenors and a Diva\' tour. Earlier in her career, Cherie was a member of The Duelling Sopranos, which toured Australia and Europe and released two CDs from the show.

In 2006, Cherie made the first of several appearances in Jakarta for the Sydney International Cultural Centre. Her debut performance at Goethe Haus featured 23 coloratura arias and lyric pieces. An audience of 500, comprising government ministers, ambassadors, and leaders in music and education, gave her outstanding reviews in Jakarta\'s most respected Indonesian and English newspapers, describing her voice as \"pure, clear, strong, and very high\" and praising her \"great musical dexterity\" and \"impeccable\" technique.
