An expanding organization with a full schedule of upcoming projects is currently seeking new talent. Our well-established low-voltage contracting firm is looking to hire a Fire Alarm Technician to become part of our crew. Candidates should possess a genuine interest in construction and installation work, along with experience in system upgrades and troubleshooting for the services we provide.
Previous professional experience in this field is a mandatory requirement.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
- Execute the installation and programming of new fire alarm systems.
- Diagnose and rectify problems within existing fire alarm systems.
- Assess potential risks for clients and propose viable solutions.
- Perform scheduled preventive maintenance tasks.
- Keep track of service part inventory levels.
- Conduct thorough testing on all equipment post-installation or repair to confirm system functionality.
- Adhere strictly to the company safety manual, prioritizing personal safety and the safety of colleagues at all times.
- Maintain daily communication with the Project Manager and/or Service & Installation Manager regarding inspection updates, project delays, specific needs, and overall job status.
- Take part in training new employees on company protocols, system inspection methods, and installation practices.
- Ensure all work meets NFPA standards and internal company quality benchmarks for inspection and installation.
- Collaborate with the Project Manager, Service & Installation Manager, and administrative office staff to achieve full job closure and client handover, enabling complete billing.
- Handle wiring, device installation, and fire stopping for new construction fire alarm projects.
Required Qualifications and Skills
- Demonstrated prior experience in fire alarm installation, maintenance, or a closely related area.
- Proficiency with standard hand tools and power tools.
- Capability to manage physically demanding tasks.
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical reasoning abilities.
- Meticulous attention to detail.
- Ability to successfully pass a criminal background check and a drug screening.
- Possession of a current, valid driver\'s license.
- Access to reliable transportation suitable for carrying a 6-foot ladder and personal tool set.
- Strong customer service orientation.
- Ability to interpret manuals, blueprints, and schematics to plan system installation and programming.
- Knowledgeable about relevant local and national codes to ensure compliance.
- Fluency in English, with proficient verbal, mathematical, and written communication skills.
- Ownership of essential hand tools, such as an ohmmeter, video meter, video test monitor, battery tester, and Ethernet jack tester.
- Ability to safely lift up to 75 pounds, transport materials, and work from ladders, including extension ladders, with proper safety training.
- Comfort working in active construction settings under high-pressure conditions and tight deadlines.
- Willingness to work in confined spaces like attics or crawl spaces.
- Access to a cell phone and an active email address for communication.
- Reliable personal transportation and a clean driving record.
- Willingness to complete a written examination and a practical skills assessment.
- Ability to work autonomously with a focus on accuracy and efficiency.
- Maintain a neat, professional appearance and possess outstanding client relationship skills.
